Bishop Donald Rondell Ashley was born in Dover, Delaware on May 31, 1968, the youngest of seven children in the union of Bishop James Alden Ashley Sr. and Evangelist Rose Ashley, who was reared in his father’s church since birth.

Bishop Donald showed signs of his musical inclination early in his life.  As he matured, so did his voice and he began singing solos before his father would preach, distinguishing himself as a little man with a big, anointed voice. 

Having been taught the principles of God at an early age at his father’s church, he began to develop a hunger and a thirst for the gifts that God placed in him. The desire to serve Christ was so strong that after graduating high school, he felt the call and dedicated his life totally to Christ in 1989.  Bishop Donald was the church drummer, then choir director, and eventually the Minister of Music, which led to multiple workshops up and down the East Coast.

He has a powerful love for Christ, his family and friends. He married the love of his life, the former Tina Cale, over 34 years ago after meeting at Dover High School.  As a result of this union, they are the proud parents of one daughter Donya Renee Ashley and grandson Isaac James Ashley. 

Bishop Donald was ordained Deacon in 1993 and licensed as a Minister of Gospel in 1996 and has since been preaching, teaching, and singing throughout the country. Preaching and teaching the gospel, Bishop Donald’s name became synonymous with the youth department, and he was ordained as Youth Pastor in 2007, where he worked tirelessly to build a strong spiritual foundation in the lives of young people.  In November 2018, he was installed, and currently serves as the Senior Pastor of the church founded by his parents, Greater Life Christian Church Inc.

In the year 2000, while walking in the office of an Elder, he began what would become a world-renowned gospel group known as Donald Ashley & Millennium, recording numerous CD projects and touring the nation.  After pinning one of his most inspirational singles “Favor,” many opportunities presented themselves such as ministering on The Word Network, Black Entertainment Television (Bobby Jones Gospel), Trinity Broadcasting Network and national and international radio.  In addition to Bishop Donald’s gifted vocal presence, his writing and composing ability afforded him the opportunity to contribute a song that is featured on a Stellar Award-winning album.

Bishop Donald Ashley serves as the Chaplin of the Star Hill Community Association and is also the treasurer of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance and Vicinity (IMA).  He received an honorary Doctorate in Theology from The School of the Great Commission in June 2022.  In November 2022, he received the Prestigious Award from Delaware State University, Dover, DE, for outstanding ministerial community involvement.  Bishop Ashley was elevated to the District Leader for the Northeastern Province under Global United Fellowship in April 2023.

Bishop Donald continues to spread the gospel around the United States and several foreign countries through his weekly online broadcast.   His favorite scripture comes from Philippians 4:13; “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”
